Thoughts from the Heart of a Mom!

How time flies...two days from now, we will celebrate Mother's Day again....hmmm...I just want to share my thoughts in this blog.

"Your children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of life's longing for itself. They come through you, but not from you.
And though they are with you, yet they belong not to you.
You may house their bodies, but not souls.
You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.
You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.
The Archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the archer's hand be for gladness; for even as He loves the arrow that flies, so He loves also the bow that is stable."

- Kahlil Gibran -

I am a lover of Gibran's works and writings. His eloquence and depth in how he expresses his thoughts is no doubt excellent and amazing. I admire this profound and amazing poet because of his style in writing.

Children are blessings from GOD. They are gifts that we should cherish as parents because they come only through us...they are not ours, they are God's. Someday God will bring them home to His kingdom and so while they are still with us, we have to cherish every moment.  We should therefore express our unconditional and undying LOVE, a love beyond compare, a love that is priceless and make them feel our CARE for them before they go.

with Ivan, my youngest child...

As a mother of four children, I feel so blessed because I know that they are the essence of my being a mother. As I come to think of my kids,  I know God chose me to be their mother.  I need therefore to serve my purpose in life because of them. From the moment they were born, I have embraced them with love and care along with the responsibilities. Yes, it is NOT at all easy to be a mom and a parent... Indeed, raising four children is very challenging...hmmm...bottomline is...every child is different and so I have to accept each of them in their unique personality and individuality.

In my journey as a parent, sometimes I would encounter trying situations that I really have to hurdle with patience, with understanding and with love. Most of the time, I end up giving my full trust and faith in the Lord especially during difficult situations. Truly, as a mom of 3 boys and a girl is NOT easy, but with the grace of God I know that I will be able to manage because I believe God chose me to be the mother of these kids.

"I cannot live your life for you." are the words I always tell my children even at their young age. I always tell them that everyday in life, they will have to make choices and decisions and that these will have a bearing on the kind of life they will have at present and in the future. As a mom I am always there to guide them, though in the end, it will still be their call.  Well, I am a mom who is compassionate, gentle and strict when there is a need for me to be one. Hmmm...I am a disciplinarian...I still believe in "old school" and so  I practice it although there are also times that I am a "cool" mom to them.

As a mom, I let them discover what life is, however, I make sure that they follow some rules in life and that they apply the values I and their father have taught them. Well, I just hope that someday these values will become their convictions and their principles in life. I am just happy seeing some of these values in them...they are polite and respectful to other people...they are compassionate too and friendly. It gives me joy when I see them share their blessings to other people.

In my heart, I believe I have raised them to be God fearing and virtuous children. I know that my legacy , which is to help other people, will forever live in their hearts. As a mom,  this gives me so much JOY and I just thank GOD for giving me these children in my life. Truly, CHILDREN are GIFTS from GOD!

One of the wonderful feelings I have in life is to be a mom.  I always look forward to occasions like Mother's Day, Christmas, my birthday and other special occasions because I feel my value as a mother during these occasions.

As we celebrate this year's Mother's Day, I can't help but think of my mother.  To my MOTHER who has given me LIFE, THANK YOU for the gift of YOU in my life, I appreciate all the things that you have done for me and the things that you continue to do.  Thank you for listening to my concerns, for teaching me values, for all the support, the care and the unconditional LOVE you give me and my family. I will never be as blessed as I am without you teaching me the value of being grateful for God's blessings. Thank you for rejoicing with me in my triumphs and for sharing also in my loneliness and sadness whenever I am down spirited.  I LOVE YOU, MANG, Happy Mother's Day Po!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL THE MOTHERS AROUND THE WORLD.

Just Trying to Express...

I woke up in the wee hours and had these thoughts in mind...Just want to share them with you....

1. I think of myself as being independent, open-minded, sincere, truthful, loving and caring and most of all...nice and friendly lady.

2. My best strengths are my charisma, my good and effective communication skills, my attitude and character, my wisdom and discernment over matters and circumstances I am faced with.

3. What keeps me going is my passion and zest for life. My desire to make sense and make a difference in my life and in the life of others.

4. If I could do anything I wanted to do, I would go to all people who are less fortunate and address all their needs. If I could only do this, I will be the happiest person in this world because I believe it is in making others happy that we find fulfillment and joy in our hearts.

5. I feel that I am special to someone when he/she gives me time and surprises. I love surprises...one just have to make sure that I will really be surprised. I know I am special because I will be able to feel it.

6. I wish people will see me as a person who is easy to get along with. A lady who is compassionate, nice and kind. . . somebody who has wisdom and intelligence ... and who is happy and contented in life.

7. I believe that nobody's life is entirely free of pain and sorrow. It is about learning to live with them rather than trying to avoid them.

8. I am a person who maintains optimism amidst challenges in life because I am a woman of character. I will always consider challenges as liberating experiences.

9. My goal in life is to be able to serve a life with a sense of purpose.

10. Before my life is over, I want to leave a legacy because I want the goodness in me to continue in this world we live in.
