Touching Words and Greetings on Mother's Day...

On Mother's Day 2013 (May 12)

This year's celebration of Mother's Day was again a fabulous one.  With all the text messages, greetings on FB and photo collages I received, my heart was indeed overwhelmed.  I can only say THANK YOU to all my family and friends who have expressed their warm wishes and greetings to me yesterday!

Every year we celebrate Mother's Day, but how many of us really know the HISTORY of this special occasion?  Well, for the info of everyone....

History of Mother's Day: Anna Jarvis
Mothers Day OriginAnna Jarvis is recognized as the Founder of Mothers Day in US. Though Anna Jarvis never married and never had kids, she is also known as the Mother of Mothers Day, an apt title for the lady who worked hard to bestow honor on all mothers.

Anna Jarvis got the inspiration of celebrating Mothers' Day from her own mother Mrs. Anna Marie Reeves Jarvis in her childhood. An activist and social worker, Mrs Jarvis used to express her desire that someday someone must honor all mothers, living and dead, and pay tribute to the contributions made by them.

A loving daughter, Anna never forgot her mother's word and when her mother died in 1905, she resolved to fulfill her mother's desire of having a mother's day. Growing negligent attitude of adult Americans towards their mothers and a desire to honor her mother soared her ambitions.

To begin with Anna, send Carnations in the church service in Grafton, West Virginia to honor her mother. Carnations were her mothers favorite flower and Anna felt that they symbolised a mothers pure love. Later Anna along with her supporters wrote letters to people in positions of power lobbying for the official declaration of Mothers Day holiday. The hard work paid off. By 1911, Mother's Day was celebrated in almost every state in the Union and on May 8, 1914 President Woodrow Wilson signed a Joint Resolution designating the second Sunday in May as Mother's Day.

Yesterday was a Happy Day for me as a mom because of the love expressed to me by my family and friends.  Here are some of the greetings I will always cherish...

After our special day as moms, our journey will go on as mothers to our children...I know we will continue to give life to them, continue to care and love them because they are the most important reason why we live.  We are blessed indeed because our Lord has given us the gift of our children and for this I know that we will forever be grateful because of the miracle of life that He has given through us.

It is therefore my prayer for us moms, for God to give us strength, wisdom, love, care and understanding in order to be the best mom to our children.

To be a mother is definitely not an easy job, but I know with the GRACE of GOD we will all be able to do our best for the LOVE of our children.

To all the MOMS,

God Bless Us All!

I'M SO THANKFUL...

I have not been writing lately on my blog...got a toxic sked lately...wow...life is great... Well, I have been blessed with so many things these past days and I just want to express how grateful I am to some people who have given me so much joy in my week-long vacation in the South.

I am thankful that I was in General Santos City and Tacurong City for five days. I am high spirited until now because I was given the chance to meet my classmates and friends whom I have not seen for more than 3 decades. Thanks to my good friends Ms. Lanie Castor Batislaong and Ms. Ermie Fernandez for gathering all our classmates.

One of the reasons why I went home is to attend the Batch '79 NDTBHS and NDTGHS Reunion. I had a great time with my batchmates. Thanks to our President, Christeta Jacalan for the invitation and congratulations to our batch for the success of the reunion.

These are my friends. Thanks to everyone for the good memories and for the gift of friendship.

They are my two good friends who were responsible in showing me around the beautiful places of General Santos City. Thanks to Sir Roy for the ride from Gen San to Tacurong. I really appreciate Bro the time you have given despite your hectic sked. Special thanks of course to my room mate, my friend, Ms. Irene for "EVERYTHING". You are such an amazing friend...I really treasure the moments we have shared. Thanks for your trust and the gift of your friendship. I love you, siztah and that will remain forever.

Be Careful...

There are lot of things that people should be careful with. Sometimes people do not really think of these things. Hmmm...Hhere are some of the things which I thought people should be careful about...

Be careful about WHAT YOU SAY...words are powerful...if it is negative, then try to hold it and don't dare say it. If you think it will give a negative effect to the person, then dismiss the thought of saying the words. WORDS CAN MAKE OR BREAK A PERSON.

Be careful when you bring to light an issue. Make sure you are the person who is in authority about the matter. Give an allowance for mistakes because of human limitations. Remember, NOBODY IS PERFECT.

Be careful of people who think they have the right to say what the heck they want about your work. Well, if by chance he is not your boss or immediate superior, then you can always say...to each his own...or even if he is your boss, you can always say...GIVE ME A CHANCE....

Be careful on how you treat others. Make sure that they feel and see that you respect their individuality.

Be careful of giving unwarranted comments, this might not be taken positively by the person.

Be careful of who you trust and tell your problems to.  Not everyone who smiles at you is your friend.

HAIKUS....

                                                          Abandoned children....
Falling in line as they walk…
                                                             Isn’t life UNFAIR?
                                                               Aeta old woman,
                                                           Wishing to see her children…
                                                              Dawn of life is NEAR!
Beautiful mountains... God’s gift to humanity... Sanctuary of PEACE!
Man under the tree, Tired of very long journey… Still with HOPE and FAITH.

Some People....

I have a lot of thoughts to post but I can't really figure out which one to write about. Hmmm...I think I need to settle with this quote: "Some people watch things happen, some make things happen, and some wonder what has happened." All I know is there are three kinds of people; those who are involved on the things that happen, those who just watch and see what is happening and those who ask what is happening.

Why My Work Gives Me Sense of Fulfillment...

Do you know what you are passionate about? I got passion in doing my work and I have always been grateful for the opportunities to help people. I have the zest for life because of the things I do.
Part of my job is to coordinate outreach activities. This is in Bahay Pag-ibig (Home for the Elderly) in Angeles, Pampanga.
Home visitations and dialogue with the parents of our Aeta Scholars in Villa Maria, Porac, Pampanga validates my thoughts about them.
Doing an act of kindness is an opportunity to reach out and touch the lives of people.
Aetakbo Mo is a Fund Raising activity of Bank of Florida for the Aeta students.
Medical and Dental Mission for the less fortunate people who cannot afford medical check-up is always a rewarding experience.
I find happiness in my work when I encounter people with good heart...I arrange scholarship programs for our deserving students.
I have always been passionate doing volunteer work...I have served as a volunteer in ABS-CBN's Relief Operations during the time of the typhoon Ondoy. I love engaging myself to activities that challenges my social responsibility. Getting involved for a noble cause gives me self-fulfillment.
Feeding programs for malnourished children of public schools is always an opportunity to show love and care for the hungry.
It was a remarkable experience to have served as a volunteer during the Presidential Election in 2010. I have served in the Secretariat of the Compact for Democratic and Peaceful Election.
Being a facilitator in Bible Camps helps me grow spiritually.
I immerse myself with the Aeta families to know and study their culture. I love exploring people's lives.
It was a good feeling conducting voter's education to some people in Guagua.
My heart bleeds whenever I go to Reception Study Center for Children (RSCC) in Lubao Pampanga. I always ask myself why parents would abandon their children. One of the activities we have for the children is Film Showing.
Conducting training and workshops for Effective Oral Communication to students who want to gain self confidence in public speaking are ways for me to share my talents and skills.
My encounter with the three aeta families for eight years has made me realize my sense on purpose here on earth. These things that I do have given me sense of fulfillment...to REACH OUT and TOUCH THE LIVES of people...to MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Is Love Enough to Make a Relationship Last?

Hmmm...I am turning 50 this year and speaking of LOVE, at my age, I am glad to have gained many insights about it. With the question, "Is love enough to make a relationship last?", all I know is that it is not enough, but it is one of the most important factors that makes it work. I believe that all the other elements and aspects have to be considered for a relationship to last for this is the ideal, but sometimes what is ideal is not what makes men happy sometimes.

In relationships...especially in love, when one puts limits, boundaries, quantifies and qualifies what he feels, love becomes conditional. It is the same as, "I will love you if"..."I will love you but"...there are conditions set...and if these expectations and conditions are not met, we become disappointed. We are hurt, because we have set rules...set conditions that do not make us happy because there is no spontaneity to what we feel. We need to experience LOVE and we can only do this if we genuinely feel and express it in different ways to show our acceptance of and appreciation to the one we love.

Why NOT let love flow naturally? Just honor what you feel... not rationalize. Love should have no limits nor bounds...The very reason why we are not supposed to answer the question, "How much do you love me?" for we can only answer the question, "Do you love me?" Di naman kasi puedeng bilangin, sukatin at bigyan ng halaga ang pagmamahal.

I have known and have witnessed relationships that have lasted for a lifetime just because of love. People in the previous generation, especially those who are not schooled do not know anything about other aspects or factors to be considered, but why did their love for each other work for their relationship? Probably because they are real and sincere to what they feel and maybe because their love for each other was enough to make their relationship work.

Love may not be enough to make a relationship work, but it is possible. Pag nagmahal ka naman kasi...at kapag pareho kayong nagmamahalan...for as long as love is there...lahat naman ay posibleng tanggapin at gawin. Kaya nga nagtatagal ang pagsasama dahil me pagmamahalan pa. Kapag nawala na yun...di mo na magagawa pa ang mga bagay bagay ...you will not be happy na rin...at dun na nawawala ang lahat lahat pang factors like TRUST, RESPECT, COMPATABILITY, etc. Kaya nga there is really a need to have communication, compassion and forgiveness and the grace as we journey with our beloved.

Unfortunately, madali nga lang sabihin ang mga ito. At times, because people change, we have difficulty accepting the person. But with LOVE, fortunately we surrender to the truth and live with his weaknesses and limitations. Isn't this great? When we accept the truth about who and what the person is? This gives us a sense of peace because we do not fight the truth...no demands, no expectations from the person we love. We have to make the person know and feel that he is ACCEPTED, APPRECIATED and LOVED UNCONDITIONALLY.

Haaaaayz...basta ang mahalaga po...we have to experience how to love and be loved. Let us treasure the moments we have na me love pa...hehe. There are things we have to accept and endure sometimes because we have made a choice and a decision to love. What is important is we are HAPPY with our DECISION.

Why do my Family and Friends Love Me...

I was reading a book entitled, "The Secret" by Rhonda Byrne when suddenly I just thought of the question, "What makes people LIKE and LOVE me? Why do they LOVE me? hmmm...katuwaan lang po...I have asked some of my friends and here are some of the things they say about me. Ego tripping me here...haha..one of the realities in life...di naman po lagi...naisip ko lang kasi tanungin sila...wala kasing magawa. Nagtatanggal lang ng stress pati. hehe...Ang sabi nila:

...smiling face.

...your warm personality.

...your thoughtfulness, humility, your genuine kindness and most of all your "kakikayan".

...you are intelligent, you talk with sense. You are pretty. What else can I say? May I add you have a genuine concern for others.

...your act of helping the "kapatid" the aetas.

...I love lots of things about you. You are so sisterly. You call your friends, "sisters" you are very kind, generous, sweet and thoughtful. I just don't like you...I love you as one of my best friends. Thanks for being a part of my life.

...i love you...eh kasi you are my friend...hehehe...kc like me, ur free ... we can go anywhere we want.

...mabait and madaling lapitan and of course hindi nawawalan ng sense of humor
ika talaga edaka a reach level up ka palagi.

...msarap kang kausap mam,.paang di nauubusan ng kwento.

...ur nice 2 me .. im js returning d way u treat me .. and idol kita mam kasi d way u carry urself...friendly syempre po...teacher plng kita i idolized napo u lalu na d way u speak .. sabi ko nga way way back .. sana magaya ko po kayo sa pagsasalita... sa english nyo ... idol po kita...parang wala po kayong ka stress stress sa buhay ...

...SMART...mission - people oriented...giver...

...you are smart and good hearted, kind to the needy, and of course, pretty.

...mabait, mapagbigay, mapagpatawad, napakatalino nyo po at marunong kayo makisama sa tao...friendly po kayo at honest po kayo.

It'S aLl AbOuT lOvE...

It is love month once again...I can feel that love is in the air...Here are some of my thoughts about this thing called LOVE...

True love stands and gets stronger through  the test of time..

It means loving the person for who and what he or she is forever.  Loving her or his whole being, even his or her soul.  It is a love that accepts the changes in the person even if sometimes you are hurt by the person.  Well, it is very ideal to speak of unconditional love, but we have to believe and have courage that we can get close to it because it is surely an awesome thing that we can do or experience. I can only wish at the moment...I hope to get close to it as I continue my journey in love in this world.

Love has taught me to be patient, to endure, to understand, to give myself more because its real essence is to love unconditionally...

Love entails a lot of understanding because of its complexity. However, when one loves unconditionally, he/she will be able to extend this genuine love to others, give himself or herself. To really love is to care for the happiness of the other person, of the many, to forgive others for their wrongdoings and to accept what can't be changed.

It is always a great feeling to be loved by somebody.  We never thought that we need the feeling to be loved until we experience it,  and so since it gives us joy and happiness, and the feeling is something that we like, in return,  we love back.  But we should not love someone just because he or she loves us, we should love because he or she has given us love which we never thought we need.  Some people who are hopeless in love would believe that they do not need love, but when one comes around and that person makes the other person  feel he or she is  loved, then his or her world changes making him or her realize the importance of love.

You cannot give what you do not have

People who have so much love in their hearts can give more because they have so much to give. Only a person who has experienced love in the family will be able to love other people. Other people can have so many expressions of love because they have experienced these.

Love has taught me to understand people who defies reasons...

It has made me understand that love does not set rules nor standards, that it does not look into one's stature in life, for when one feels it, and honors it, he or she becomes short of reasons to justify why he/she is in love. It is something that one can't hide and so once you love someone you will do anything in the world for this person. Well, LOVE is a choice.

Love is when you bring out the best of the other person and the best in you...

I have come to know that when one loves you, he will support what you want to do in life. He knows that you can become a better person with the endeavors you are into and so the least that he can do is to be there to inspire, support and love you. With these, he helps bring out the best in you and the best of himself.

Love should involve spiritual affinity.

In love, affinity must be created on the moments shared. The spiritual connection must be felt and must be established. At times, when you think of the other person, you would know that he is also thinking of you because you are connected on a deeper level. You have this unique meeting of the minds and soul. You are connected to each other because your hearts are bonded with the strong commitment to love each other.

I have learned that one of LOVE's definition is TIME...

Make time, find time and give time to the one we love. There must be a will to do it. I would like to believe that when you like to do something you can find time, but if you do not have the will and you do not like to do things for your loved ones, then you find reasons why you can't.

The bottom line is that, LOVE's allure really fascinates us. However, our perspective of what it is depends on our experiences, our attitudes and our philosophy toward life.

And this is what my soul has taught me of what love is
through the years...

That love is beyond my understanding of what it is.
Beyond the words that I say to let others know what I exactly feel,
Beyond the feelings that I express through my actions...
Beyond what was, what is, and what will be...
For a genuine love is to give one's heart unconditionally.

To end this post, I would like to THANK my family and friends for all the LOVE...thanks for the unconditional love. Many thanks too for appreciating how wonderful I am as a person. Most of all, I thank the LORD for loving me so deeply! Tomorrow will be the day of the hearts, and so I would like to greet everyone, HAPPY VALENTINE'S!
